From 8 to 11 November 2013, the Inlassable Gallery presents Viaggiatore Immobile on the occasion of The Others 2013 fair. With works by Giulia Andreani, Marcella Barcelò, Dobrawa Borkala and Caroline Corbasson. Around the figure of the immobile traveller, borrowed from Jean Giono, the four artists examine the question of inner escape, and the link between creation and confinement. Continuing the work undertaken with the inmates of the Areszt Sledczy Center in Warsaw, Dobrawa Borkala questions the effects of prison isolation on creative behaviour. Caroline Corbasson imagines stellar spaces as mental windows open onto the infinite, while Marcella Barcelò reveals the intimate diaries of an immobile traveller through the dreamlike wanderings she depicts and the worlds she imagines. Giulia Andreani, for her part, contrasts this concept, tinged with romanticism, with her work on archive images of the Capuchin cellar in Palermo.

At the end of the 2013 edition of The Others in Turin, the exhibition “Viaggiatore Immobile” was awarded the prize for best curatorial project. The honorary prize for the best artist’s project was awarded to the work of Caroline Corbasson.

Du 8 au 11 Novembre 2013, l’Inlassable Galerie présente Viaggiatore Immobile à l’occasion de la foire The Others 2013. Avec les travaux de Giulia Andreani, Marcella Barcelò, Dobrawa Borkala et Caroline Corbasson. Autour de la figure du voyageur immobile, empruntée à Jean Giono, les quatres artistes se penchent sur la question de l’évasion intérieure, et sur le lien entre création et enfermement. Poursuivant le travail entreprit avec les détenues de l’Areszt Sledczy Center de Varsovie, Dobrawa Borkala questionne les effets de l’isolement carcéral sur les comportements créatifs. Caroline Corbasson imagine des espaces stellaires comme autant de fenêtres mentales ouvertes sur l’infini quand par les errances oniriques qu’elle dépeint et les mondes qu’elle imagine, Marcella Barcelò dévoile les carnets intimes d’un voyageur immobile. Pour sa part Giulia Andreani oppose à ce concept teinté de romantisme son travail sur les images d’archive du caveau des Capucins de Palerme.

A l’issue de l’édition 2013 de The Others à Turin, l’exposition « Viaggiatore Immobile » a reçu le prix du meilleur projet curatorial. Le prix d’honneur du meilleur projet d’artiste a été décerné au travail de Caroline Corbasson.
