If Bianca Argimon’s preferred mode of expression is drawing, it is accompanied by a corpus of three-dimensional works whose intertextuality touches by its accuracy and rigour. The effort, the ridicule and the asceticism in Protein’s collages, and the simplicity combining poetry and radicalism in relation to the virtual world in which most of us are forced to live, are at stake. The innocuous and seductive appearance of the soft, faded colours of his works is like the song of Hymnia and her muses, hiding darker drawings and deeper torments. Which men and women are training, in this gilded doll’s cage, for which improved bodies, and to go where, since the doors are closed, the gym is empty, supported by the plastic beauty of the machines like improbable sculptures. If the body is both omniscient and absent, the effort is real. Like a thumb to sweat and cramps, the artist therefore decides to put the sum of the peels of erasers during the elaboration of his drawings, in a scale. Double standards, what efforts are rewarded and how do we reward ourselves, by approaching his works, by estimating the toil, the cause or the effects. It is a general question about the role of art and the work of the artist that is raised here, with the equal lightness of a justiciere scale to the ductility of a featherweight. The negative, the erased, the cancelled, then takes centre stage and asks: who is satisfied, who doesn’t care?

When the world is only a pyrographed bilboquet that a hand game can make fall and then rise again, it is a whimsical organism with a complex industry that is revealed to us. Docile, pencil-drawn cows, once washed, cleared of their stains, come to drink, white and virgin canvases, fruit loops in order to take on the colourful colours. A food industry with no limits to its whimsicality and with only the margin of paper as a guard rail, it is a severe system, a rigid and solid structure, for a crazy imagination. The hardness of iron, the rigour of the slaughterhouse when in fact it is only a question of colours, of childhood, of lightness. Once again, contrasts are called into question, merge, with the only soft uneasiness being the only certainty of being in front of a work in movement, which concedes nothing to chance and whose ramifications follow themselves into our hearts and heads, with the poetic power of a fascinating and surprising art which thought to rock us while it upsets us.
