What if a simple canvas deepens your own vision, shaping new dimensions, regardless of its finished substance? Inside a visible verticality, the artist has the ability to design a new space, an atmosphere with its own hands. By no means, it is easy to recreate an atmosphere. But what is as special as the atmosphere of your own home? This one singular and vulnerable space, where the details could betray you, telling anyone your true personality. A moment where nothing happens. You would be surprised by the emptiness of this time laps, in a way you, being embodied by your own home. This peaceful privacy which for instance could be felt and seen inside Kevin Perkins’ work.
Paintings in Paintings, an artwork in an artwork, is about expressing this proper introspection, this dizzy feeling of a nearly endless room, like a tunnel crossing different worlds. A breach through a picture, where the painting becomes an open door. The Monteverita gallery, transformed into a living room, will create a dual introspection, while entering the space, will already be the entrance into art.
This exhibition is in a sense an invitation to curiously look around, shameless, offering a touch of voyeurism, a kind of strange sensation of familiarity, unveiling paradoxically, singularity. At first, it seems to be an odd combination, on one hand standing beside elements we can easily identify and on the other hand discovering estranged spots, questioning ourselves.
During the entire exhibition organised and curated by John Ferrère, all sorts of subjects will be depicted, creating a dialogue between modern and contemporary art artists, from the soft intimacy of Marcella Barcelò, to the impersonal waiting room of Lucas Bjørnsten.

Et si une simple toile prenait de la profondeur ? Si elle ouvrait une dimension, qui ne s’arrêterait pas simplement à sa matière finie ? Si dans une apparente verticalité, hermétique et hors de nous, un artiste avait creusé un espace, façonné de toutes pièces, une ambiance ?
Or, ce n’est pas chose aisée, de recréer une ambiance, de parvenir à raconter une atmosphère. Et quelle spéciale atmosphère que celle du chez soi ?
Cet espace singulier, vulnérable, où des détails vous trahissent, et disent qui vous êtes. Un moment où rien ne se passe. Surprendre un instant de rien, un soi chez soi. La tranquillité privée que l’on peut voir et sentir dans les tableaux de Kevin Perkins par exemple.
« Painting in paintings », une peinture dans une peinture, c’est raconter une mise en abîme, le vertige d’un espace quasi sans fin, un tunnel qui nous fait passer d’un monde à l’autre. C’est une percée à travers l’image, où le tableau devient une porte ouverte.
La galerie Monteverita, métamorphosée en salon, instaurera une double mise en abîme, où un pied entré dans le lieu, sera déjà une entrée dans l’art…Cette exposition est une invitation à laisser courir sans honte nos regards curieux, elle propose une touche de voyeurisme et offre cette étrange sensation qu’est la familiarité, tout en nous dévoilant de manière paradoxale, une singularité. Bizarre mélange en effet, entre reconnaissance d’éléments où l’on se retrouve, et découverte de signes étrangers qui nous interpellent.Autant de sujets dont il sera question dans cette exposition organisée et mise en scène par John Ferrère, qui dialogue entre des artistes d’art moderne et d’art contemporain, qui va de la douceur de l’intime, avec Marcella Barceló, à l’impersonnel d’une salle d’attente chez Lucas Bjørnsten…
